Members of The Victorian Fire and Rescue Squad provide services at a variety of motorsport events throughout the year. These include Circuit Racing, Drag Racing, World 500cc and Superbikes, The Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, Hillclimbs, Rallies and Indy Car Racing.

Motorsport is dangerous and it is becoming increasingly more important to have a trained group of professionals on site to ensure race meetings are held safely and that any driver rescue or fire can be effectively dealt with.

VFRS members practice various techniques required to suppress a fire and how to prevent it from becoming established after an incident. Members also train in current rescue and extrication techniques. At race meetings members work hand in hand with other officials, safety teams, stewards and paramedics to ensure each meeting is held safely.

VFRS members are accredited CAMS officials and the Victorian Fire & Rescue Squad is a CAMS affiliated club.
